4 Robotic Cleaners Take to the Floor
With the continuing advancement of technology impacting almost everything in our daily lives, the advent of robotic cleaners is now a very real part of the cleaning industry. At the 2014 International CES (Consumer Electronics Show), four of the most prominent robotic cleaners were showcased to the thousands of visitors to the convention.
These cleaners are available in varying forms; robotic vacuums, hard-floor scrubbers and a combination of the two. The following article will look at these four cleaners and analyse the different features of each one.
iRobot Scooba 450

The Scooba 450 from iRobot uses an internal tank to house its hard-floor cleaner, making it perfect for hard floors and stains that would normally require a wet mop to clean. The user simply has to fill it with the cleaning liquid, press the ‘clean’ button and the Scooba will do the rest. It will sweep, soak, scrub and squeegee the floor quickly and efficiently.
Ecovacs Deebot D93

The Ecovacs Deebot is somewhat different from the other robotic cleaners that were shown – it can be monitored via an app that is available for both iOS and Android operating systems which allows you to see where and how the Deebot is cleaning. The unit is able to collect dust from both carpets and hard floors, with its washable dry pad making it perfect for repeated use on the latter. The Deebot is available in three-tier purchase options; no Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi and a model that comes with a component which empties the unit’s bin.
Neato XV Essential

The Neato XV is a robotic cleaner that is aimed at those on a lower budget than the aforementioned units. The XV Essential is designed exclusively for dry floors, with the rubber blade brush excellent for dealing with dust and dirt on dry floors. As it is a budget cleaner, it doesn’t have some of the features that other Neato cleaners do – the ‘combo’ brush designed for carpet and the pleated filter of other models are sacrificed on the Essential.
Moneual Rydis H68 Pro

This versatile cleaner from Moneual can clean a variety of surfaces, including carpets and both wet and dry floors. If you need it for vacuum purposes only, that isn’t a problem as it can be set to vacuum your carpet, turning round when it reaches a non-carpeted floor. The ‘hybrid’ setting ensures it can deal with each floor it encounters, adjusting on the move to guarantee optimum efficiency. It comes equipped with both disposable wet and dry pads and a machine-washable mop pad.
Until robotic cleaners become commonplace and cheaper for every day household use, floor scrubbers are by far the most efficient way to clean floors. They can cover a large surface area on a single charge, with the ride-on and walk-behind variations ensuring there is a floor scrubber dryer for both small and large environments in the commercial and industrial sectors.
Here at Alpha Power Cleaners, we stock and supply a range of the finest quality floor scrubber dryers from the leading manufacturers.
